To commemorate Ellis Bent (1783-1815) who, before travelling to Sydney, accepted appointment as Judge-Advocate of N.S.W. and accompanied Governor Macquarie to Sydney, where he was the first practising Barrister-at-Law in the Colony.

Probably named to honour Archibald Bell, Jnr., who discovered the route over the Blue Mountains by way of Richmond in 1843, later known as Bell’s Line of Road.
Mr. James Channon’s house was named “Beaconsfield House”. I cannot discover whether “Beaconsfield Square” was named after that house or the house after the Square, but the estate of “Beaconsfield Square” was subdivided in the year 1878.
In earlier times this street must have overlooked Exile Bay and probably deserved this title.
I am unable to ascertain the reason for this choice of name in relation to Concord.
