Tours of Yaralla (Dame Eadith Walker Hospital) and Rivendell (Thomas Walker Hospital).

Our Society’s major fund-raising events are our Open Days on the two historic Walker Estates. All money raised is used for the preservation of these estates.

Each year we hold two Open Days at Yaralla (April and October) and one Open Day at Rivendell (July). These are always on the last Sunday in each of these months unless otherwise notified.

BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL: You will need to book in for a specific time for your tour. It is important that you report to the booking table at least 15 minutes before your allocated time so as to be ready for the group to leave on time. If you are late for your designated time we may not be able to fit you in to another tour immediately.

Check our front page for information on dates and times for our upcoming events

TOURS: Commencing at 10:30 am, tours leave throughout the day at 30 minute intervals. Groups are limited to 20 people to enable the guide to interact better with the group.

PARKING: You will be advised of parking details at the time of booking.

SOUVENIRS: Trish Skehan’s books, The Walkers of Yaralla ($25) and Where the Blue Wattle Grows ($15.00), will be available for sale as well as smaller leaflets on the Walkers and Rivendell. These are also always available at our museum at 1 Bent Street, Concord.

CATERING: Devonshire Teas will be available for sale during the day. As well a barbecue lunch and cans of drink may be available from our BBQ Trailer at a nominal cost.

If you would like to add your name to our waiting list to be notified of the next tour of these estates, complete the form below. You will be notified approximately two months prior to the date of the tour.

PARKING: You can park in the paddock on the right just before the inner gates. Gates will close thirty minutes after the last tour ends so please make sure you have vacated the parking area by then.

MAIN BUILDING: We no longer have access to the Yaralla mansion as it is used full time by Sydney Local Health District. However, we can take you on tours of the grounds and some of the main outbuildings.

We have a large collection of photographs, many showing the interior of the home in Dame Eadith’s time. These are on display in the Squash Court and the Stables complex. There are limited toilet facilities.
