Beaconsfield Avenue
Mr. James Channon’s house was named “Beaconsfield House”. I cannot discover whether “Beaconsfield Square” was named after that house or the house after the Square, but the estate of “Beaconsfield Square” was subdivided in the year 1878.
My great grandfather bought the Beaconsfield estate early 20th century and sold it about 1916. He built a house at No 25 which I remember playing in as a boy as my grandfather lived there. It was a timber federation but has since been demolished. I wish I could find a picture of the original Beaconsfield House as the family also lived there for a while as well.
The house seems to have stood near the corner of Crane and Broughton Streets, but was probably demolished in the 1920s.
