Honours Joseph James Marceau, one of the Canadian Exiles and the only one to remain in Australia after their release from detention. Marceau married an Australian woman, Mary Barrett, and settled in Dapto, N.S.W.

Named after a “suburb” of Haywards Heath, Sussex, England. The Sydney suburb of “Lindfield” received its name from the house name of the home of Mr. List (in present Lindfield) who had been born in that Sussex town.
