Yaralla House residents were invited by the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet to a meet and greet with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at the Sydney Opera House Forecourt on Tuesday 16th October 2018.
The Duke and Duchess were visiting Sydney to open and celebrate the Invictus Games. The Invictus Games is an international adaptive multi-sport event, created by the Duke of Sussex, in which wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel and their associated veterans take part in sports including wheelchair basketball, rowing, powerlifting, and athletics.
Yaralla House residents relished the opportunity to shake hands with The Royals – Harry and Meghan. It was a very special and emotional moment for all the residents.
The following week Yaralla House residents enjoyed attending the Invictus Games ‘Athletics Day’ at the Homebush Athletic Centre. The atmosphere was electric and showcased camaraderie and mateship amongst the athletes.
