Vale – Rose Lorraine Holmes (1940 – 2025)

Rose Lorraine Holmes was born in Blayney, New South Wales, on the 1st of March 1940. In 1955, she moved to Concord, where she developed a deep appreciation for the community. Lorraine worked at the Concord Post Office, where she became a familiar and friendly face to many locals.

She was an active member of the Concord community and took particular joy in her involvement with the City of Canada Bay Heritage Society. Lorraine was especially passionate about Yaralla, relishing the opportunity to guide tours around its beautiful grounds. Her love for history led her to research Concord’s past extensively, with a special interest in the lives of the Exile convicts who were held at the Longbottom Stockade.

Lorraine sadly passed away on the 10th of May at Umina Beach, aged 85.

Lorraine will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and dedication to preserving local history. Her passion for Concord’s stories and her contributions to the community leave a lasting legacy. She touched the lives of many through her generosity of spirit and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
