Vale Lois Michel OAM 1931-2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our most dedicated member, Lois Michel on Sunday 1st December, 2024. Lois had been the Secretary of the Concord Historical Society and then the Canada Bay Heritage Society since its inception in 1969. She was awarded the OAM for her service to the community.

Mayor Michael Megna in his Mayoral minute about Lois said: “The 55 years of dedicated service and hard work she has contributed through her work with the Heritage Society, Museum and the Yaralla Committee is unsurpassed. Lois’s passion for preserving the history of our area has ensured that ours and future generations will understand and appreciate the contributions of those who came before in making our area what it is today, and what it will become”.

On behalf of all of the members and volunteers at the Society I thank Lois for her dedicated service and remember Lois with heartfelt gratitude.

There will be a memorial service for Lois in February 2025. A notice will be sent closer to the date.

Rest in peace. Lois.

Sally Jerapetritis

Secretary

City of Canada Bay Heritage Society
