June Guest Speaker

Just a reminder that our June speaker, Ian Burnet, will be talking about his new book, The Tasman Map.  It delves into the story of the first Dutch voyages to Australia, set against the background of the struggle of the newly formed Dutch Republic to gain its independence from the Kingdom of Spain and the struggle of the Dutch East India Company for trade supremacy in the East Indies against the Portuguese, Spanish and English rivals.

You are invited to join us at our museum at 1 Bent Street, Concord on Saturday, 4th June at 1:30 for a 2:00 pm prompt start, to find out more about this subject.

Following the talk you are invited to stay for some light refreshments and a chance to chat with the speaker and our wonderful volunteers.

These talks are open to everyone.  Admission is FREE, but we always welcome donations toward the upkeep of our museum. See poster under “Guest Speakers” in side column for full details.  Please feel free to forward this on to anyone you think might be interested
