Harry was a valued member of our Society. Military history was one of his passions, and his immense knowledge was extremely helpful any time we were arranging new displays around our collection of militaria.
He was also an intrepid traveller, visiting many places around the world where the average traveller would never think to visit. He had a keen interest in photograpy and thoroughly documented his travels. At any time we had need of a guest speaker to fill in he was always ready to step up and take us on a journey through many of the places he visited. His memory for details and descriptions made us feel we were on these journeys with him.
Another of Harry’s passions was Rugby Union. He wrote and published a book on the history of West Tigers, his beloved team. He was also advocating for signage at the revamped Concord Oval to highlight their history.
Harry had quite a “harem” of ladies, including his wife, who he regularly ferried around to meetings at the various Probus Clubs to which he and they belonged. There was always a good laugh when someone would mistake one of them for his “wife”. He had a great sense of fun and enjoyment of life.
He will be sadly missed.
