James Casey lived at 65 Broughton Street, Concord. His parents, Michael and Mary Casey lived at Burwood Road Concord diagonally south east of the Concord Public School at Stanley Street. James’ house was build by Alderman Daniel Zoeller, a builder, and named Colane. The origin of the name is unknown. James was also appointed an Inspector under the provisions of the Pure Food Act and Public Health Act. The Council has in its archives photographs of James and his photo and a short description of his office is on page 14 of the book Concord Jubilee 1883-1933.
I lived at 36 Colane Street from 1952 to 1960 and went to Concord West Public School. Sadly the Californian bungalow that was my home has been demolished and replaced. I can still remember almost everyone who lived in that street in the 1950s.
Was a great house
