French Canadian Exiles
Date posted: February 21, 2014
Why are we called the City of Canada Bay?
Come and learn more about what led to these Canadians being exiled to Sydney, where they were housed in the Longbottom Stockade at Concord.
A step-by-step look, through photographs, about the background of the Longbottom PATRIOT rebel prisoners – from their capture in the 1838 Lower Canadian Rebellion to their voyage to Australia, and beyond.
The speaker will be Pierre Marcoux, a descendant of the one prisoner who remained in Australia following the pardoning of the exiles and their return to Canada.
