Call for Volunteers

The City of Canada Bay Museum is looking for volunteers to assist in a variety of tasks. In particular the museum is focusing on collection management projects, auditing its collection, photographing objects, updating computer records and reorganising our storage system. Archival material needs to be indexed and entered into a data base. In addition we are keen to transcribe and digitise our oral histories and upload them to the Society’s website. All training will be provided.

No specific knowledge of museum management is necessary. Basic computer skills needed for some of the tasks.

Volunteers are also needed to assist with our Open Days at the historic Yaralla estate (Dame Eadith Walker Hospital) and Rivendell (Thomas Walker Convalescent Hospital) which are held on three days a year. We need guides to take groups around and tell of the history and heritage of the area and the families who lived there. Kits are supplied which give all the information you will need. We also need volunteers to assist with serving Devonshire Teas as well as other tasks on the day.
