In August 1969 the Concord Historical Society was formed. In the 50 years from then our society has grown, gone through changes of name and amalgamated with the Drummoyne Historical Society to become the City of Canada Bay Heritage Society.
In our early years we established the Concord Heritage Museum in the Joanna Walker Children’s Cottage Hospital in the grounds of the Thomas Walker Hospital. This too has gone through many changes. When the building was needed by Rivendell for its own use we went into storage for some years until Concord Council gave us a small demountable building in Wellbank Street where we continued to showcase the areas history until the Central Concord Library was closed and the City of Canada Bay Council generously handed over that part of the Senior Citzens Centre where, ten years ago, we established what is considered one of the best volunteer-run museums in New South Wales.
To celebrate these occasions we will be hosting a luncheon at the Massey Park Golf Club on 11th August, 2019 and we would like to make contact with any former members who have moved away or any others who have helped us over the years so we can officially invite them to join us for the celebration and thank them for their support. If this is you, or if you know anyone please contact us at email@example.com. We would love to meet up with you all again to celebrate all we have achieved in the past 50 years.
