"Preserving the past for the future"

Our museum is a social history museum containing over 1000 items of clothing, household items, furniture, war memorabilia, office equipment, toys, bric-a-brac, books, documents, photographs, etc, from the late 1800s to the present.

It is designed to show primary school students what life was like when their grandparents were children. It can also help to stimulate memories of older people, particularly Alzheimer sufferers.

Our aim is to preserve items from the past showing the differences between life in the old days and the present. Additionally, we gather and preserve items from the past and the present, pertaining to our area, for future generations.

We have special displays during the year as well as other displays which change regularly, so there is always something new to see throughout the year.
